Session 1: Introduction to Geospatial Data and Analysis 
Description:

In the first workshop in our series, we will introduce the fundamentals of geospatial data analysis, primarily using two of the leading tools in the field: ArcGIS and QGIS. We'll walk through how to import, visualize, and analyze geographic data. Participants will gain an understanding of understanding of how to leverage these powerful tools for your own data and research projects. 

This term, the Geospatial Analytics Working Group  is hosting a 3-part series, with this meeting/workshop and meetings on 5/5 12pm-1pm Building Pipelines and Workflows and 5/19 11am-12pm

Steve joined Research Computing in 2015 as a GIS Specialist. He has extensive experience with Geographic Information Systems and geospatial databases.  Steve greatly enjoys teaching others and has taught workshops in GIS, Matlab, Python scripting, R scripting and Qualtrics.  He has experience with data science, data wrangling, data visualization and the development of reproducible workflows through coding. Outside the office, you'll often find him exploring the outdoors trail running, mountain biking, skiing and coaching youth sports.
